andCOTTAGE PAINT -   a clay based, self priming Paint.  Why are we so excited about this paint?

I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, and attended a demonstration in Minneapolis given by an expert team, led by Linda Lock.  They were doing some demonstrations up at the front, showing that Cottage Paint can be applied over various  surfaces  that were already finished with a dark varnish. Hello...!! You mean I can paint over a piece without going through the work of stripping  and sanding..... who.. hoo...is this for real?? How many of you have an old piece laying around, waiting around for you to find the "time "  to do it? Wait no more..Cottage Paint is here!

Cottage Paint is a clay-based paint that dries to a silky matte finish and remains porous and easy to sand or wet distress when dry. The beauty of this paint is that you can paint it over almost any surface without sanding, priming or stripping. The surface needs to be clean and free of flaking paint or rust.
We're not kidding!!  Gone are the days of labourious stripping and sanding.  After painting, you finish with a zero-gloss varnish, or a satin wax, which we sell at The Camellia.

Cottage Paint has low VOCs and it drys in under an hour.

So come into The Camellia to choose a colour, and shake or stir the paint well before using. Dampen your brush with water before painting.

Use a brush with a fine bristle, the finer the brush, the fewer the brush marks.  Ask to see our Cottage Paint brushes.

If you are distressing, use a damp rag to wipe the painted surface back, this step is done after your 2 coats of Cottage Paint are dry.  If you have  a large project you want to paint, and you are not sure how to proceed, sign up for one of our classes at The Camellia.

Take a look at the many How-to videos, and then come into our store, The Camellia, to see the entire Cottage Paint, and finished pieces of furniture painted with Cottage Paint.
